Nourish: Food and Community
Nourish DVD Image

What we eat, where we eat, and how we eat reveals much about our relationship to food. Today, more than ever, we need to understand where our food comes from and how it reaches us. The purpose of Nourish is to open a broad public conversation about our food system that encourages citizen engagement, particularly among young people and families.

Inspiring Learning and Action

Nourish explores a vital question: How can we create a more sustainable food system? A multi-year media and education initiative, Nourish includes the following program elements:

Nourish TV Special

A high-definition PBS television program for national broadcast. The special traces our relationship to food from a global perspective to personal action steps. Scheduled for Spring 2010.

Nourish DVD

A companion DVD containing the half-hour PBS special and 11 short films. A valuable tool for schools, non-profit organizations, community groups, libraries, museums, and families.

Nourish Curriculum

A standards-based curriculum for middle and high schools. Challenges students to re-imagine the food system and propose creative solutions. In a culminating project, students re-design their school lunch program.

Nourish Website

Over time, this will grow into an online hub for information and action. Featuring video clips, interactive tools, and user-generated content to deepen the learning experience.
